EMS protocols MCP server for Claude and ChatGPT
Add one URL to your AI assistant and it can search published EMS protocol books, open a full protocol section and tell you which agencies have books loaded. Results name the agency, the protocol and the source document.
The four tools
| ems_search_protocols | query, state or agency_id, limit. Cited excerpts from published EMS protocol books. |
| ems_get_protocol | id. Full text of one protocol section. |
| ems_list_agencies | state. Agency ids and section counts. |
| ems_coverage | state (optional). Local, state or national-model source per county. |
Example
Ask your assistant: What does the California protocol say about epinephrine in adult cardiac arrest? It calls the search tool and quotes the result with its source:
ems_search_protocols query: "adult cardiac arrest epinephrine" state: "CA" → Los Angeles County EMS Agency 1210 Cardiac Arrest · rev. 07-01-26 "Epinephrine may improve outcomes if given early in non-shockable rhythms, but can worsen outcomes early in shockable rhythms…" source: file.lacounty.gov/…/1210CardiacArrest.pdf
Where the protocols come from
The tools read from Protocol Guide, a source-cited EMS protocol search built by the same operator. Coverage differs by county, and ems_coverage tells the assistant whether a county has a local, state or national-model source. Each answer names the book it came from, so you can open the original.
Read this before you use it
The results are education and reference material. They are not medical direction and not a substitute for your agency's current protocols, your medical director or your training. Check the source document for anything that matters.
